High Grade Petroleum Jellies
Custom Made to Given Specifications. Table III will acquaint you with the range of Petroleum jellies and their typical properties. The jellies, ranging in colours from the purest white to dark amber, meet such diverse requirements as that of the cosmetic and pharmaceutical industries as well as the 'hard-core industrial sector (for instance, protective coating of metals) or special applications like mineral jelly for ammunition.
Every precaution is taken to maintain uniform properties and high quality, from batch to batch.
Pharmacopoeial stipulations lay down the limit for ultra violet absorbance to guarantee that the jelly is free from carcinogenic compounds. The jellies that we offer meet these stipulations. This can be ascertained by the recommended physical tests.
According to British and various Pharmacopoeia stipulations regarding ultra violet absorbance for white petroleum jelly, extinction of a 1cm layer of 0.05 w/v solution in Iso-Octane, should not be greater than 0.5 at 290 nm.
A glance at Table III confirms that our jellies of IP grade pass the ultraviolet tests by a wide margin. This testifies the high standards of refinement.
Petroleum jellies come to you with a clear cut guarantee on their bacteriostatic and fungistatic properties. They retain their jel-like structure and do not tend to 'run' or sweat' under the variable conditions encountered from the filling line to final consumption. High congealing points speed packaging operations.
Shown below are the specifications for regular IP grades of petroleum jellies, together with typical industrial grades. However, should you require viscosities, melting points, colours or any other modifications, we will be happy to satisfy your individual demands.

HANDLING
Petroleum jellies can be removed from drums while in a solid state by using a clean scoop. Alternatively, the jelly can be removed by melting it, preferably by passing steam through a clean rust-free steam coil immersed in the jelly.
When the jelly is packed in open-top drums, specially constructed steam heaters can be used which melts the jelly in the drum within ten minutes. If the jelly is packed in closed top drums, the jelly easily melts by passing steam through a coil around the outside of the drum.
Normally, heating of the drum by an electric hotplate or gas flame is not recommended. This is because it requires extreme care. Moreover, such methods tend to result in discoloration of the product due to local overheating, specially in the case of the lighter coloured jellies.
The Technical services department will be happy to make available to consumers the necessary diagrams and fabrication data relating to the most appropriate melting procedure.
Our principal objective is to satisfy the consumer on every count.
With a strong R & D team comprising acknowledged experts in various disciplines, and backed by hard core professionals in marketing, We offer:
● White oils and petroleum jellies with consistently high quality.
● Rigid adherence to international standards.
● Technical service by a team of committed chemists and chemical engineers.
The products can be modified to suit your specific needs. For example, you may require a white oil with a narrow viscosity or volatility range or a higher stability oxidation, or you may want a petroleum jelly with a particular melting point or consistency. Our technical specialists will work closely with you and in confidence, to design appropriate formulations.
